A Power Move
The Cyberport-Wah Fu Cable Tunnel has been a key piece of power supply infrastructure of the district. With the ever-increasing demand for housing, the natural slopes above the cable tunnel is now undergoing site formation (Contract CV/2020/01). This site, along with the re-development of Wah Fu Estate, would make up the majority of the public housing development in the pipes for the community in Pok Fu Lam.
Tapping In
In light of the substantial risk associated with the site formation work, the vibration and movement of the tunnel has to be monitored in real-time. Sixense was brought in for this task in June 2021. Combining our Cyclops solution with an array of geophones and our web-based platform Beyond Monitoring, our clients have been able to access a continuous string of monitoring data and assess the risks whenever they need. This is particularly important for developments in Pok Fu Lam.
Since the installation in 2021, routine maintenance visits have been scheduled once every quarter. Sixense has caught any potential weak points in the system and kept the instruments in top-notch shape during the course of the works. As the construction of the water reservoirs and infrastructure commenced in 2022, Sixense added more vibration sensors to the system to accommodate the expansion of the site, ensuring stability in Pok Fu Lam’s infrastructure.
